Bear walking is when a person walks like a bear. It’s a four-legged walk like an animal.
The purpose of bear walking is to increase physical strength, stamina, power, and flexibility. In this video, I will introduce how to do bear walking properly.
There are many forms of bear walking, but there is no correct answer. However, bear walking should increase the performance of the body as a result. The reason why it is named bear walking is because it imitates bear walking.
Most animals walk on four feet, but their steps are different. Dogs, cats, tigers, and bears all walk differently and have different characteristics.
Bear walking should not be dog walking. The biggest error when doing bear walking is that bear walking becomes dog walking. It doesn’t matter if you walk like a dog from the beginning, but you shouldn’t walk like a dog if you say you walk like a bear. If you walk like a dog, you become a dog. Be a bear.
The real characteristic of bear walking is to hit the back foot with the front hand.
If you bend your palm and touch the ground immediately, the impact is directly delivered to your arm, resulting in wrist and shoulder injuries.
The most injured part of bear walking is the wrist. The first principle of bear walking is to put your hands in a hook shape and hit your back foot.
The second rule is to lift the entire sole of your foot at once, not just your heels off the ground.
The knee of the front foot should be attached to the chest and the knee of the rear foot should be straight.
When you bear walking in this way, you feel connected from your toes to your fingertips, and your whole body is stretched.
You can prevent injury and walk for a long time with movements such as an adverting tube man.
The origin of bear walking began with the Five-Animal Exercise (五禽戱,Wuqinxi) of Huatuo, an ancient Chinese doctor. Five-Animal Exercise has training to walk like an animal.
There is a difference between the five animal categories.
There are 5 kinds of animal walking in our club: Bear walking, Tiger walking, Monkey walking, Duck walking, and Rooster walking.
The origin of our club animal walking is Shaolin Temple. Shaolin Temple is still training with animal walking.
Some Chinese martial arts trainees in Korea also practiced bear walking and tiger walking. They used bear walking as an extreme fitness exercise. They even trained to go more than 5km on bear walking.
The ability to get through bear walking is cardiopulmonary endurance, stamina, and mental strength. For the purpose of martial arts training, you have to walk at least 2km by bear walking.
If you do bear walking properly outdoors, dogs and cats follow you thinking you are friends. At this stage, you’ve become an Animagus by doing a real bear walking.
